The digital television market is characterised by its global dimension. The so-called “all-digital” revolution has been progressing since year 2000 and making an impact on the general public, affecting images broadcast by satellite, DTT, and Internet over ADSL.
The gradual switch-off of analogue between now and 2012 favours a digital era and explosion of the market : in Europe and the USA , nearly 700 million analogue televisions will have to be replaced or upgraded.
The explosion in the content and means of broadcasting digital television (DTT, IP) is a very strong momentum emphasizing that this all-digital revolution is on the way. |
